Profile
The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. National Service Scheme (NSS) aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth an overall objective of “Personality Development of the Students through Community Service”. The VISION of NSS Kaliabor College is “SERVE THE SOCIETY AND CREATE A HUMANITARIAN ENVIRONMENT”. The Mission of the Unit is “TO CREATE AWARENESS, SENSITIZE AND ORGANIZE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES IN THE LOCALITY TO PROMOTE A PEACEFUL, PROSPEROUS AND HARMONIOUS LIFE”. The Major Aims and Objectives of NSS Kaliabor College are- TO UTILIZE THE ENERGY AND WISDOM OF STUDENT VOLUNTEERS FOR THE ALLROUND UPLIFTMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP A SENSE OF SOCIAL AND CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY AMONG STUDENT VOLUNTEERS DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONALITY AND FUTURE LEADERSHIP AMONG STUDENTS THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE AND ENGAGEMENT TO ENABLE THE STUDENTS TO IDENTIFY THE SOCIAL NEEDS & PROBLEMS AND TO ENGAGE IN CREATIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE WAY TO MITIGATE THOSE ISSUES TO DEVELOP COMPETENCE AMONG STUDENTS REQUIRED FOR GROUP LIVING AND SHARING OF RESPONSIBILITIES

On this occasion, a Documentary named ‘Lives of Forest Guard of Kaziranga’ was screened among the students to spread awareness regarding wild-life of Kaziranga especially about the preservation of one horned-Rhino. On this occasion, an awareness lecture on “Say No to Drugs” was delivered by Mr. Bipin Medhi, Counselor, Jakhalabandha PHC. Dr. Rinju Bharali, Assistant Professor, Dept of Botany Kaliabor College also presented an outstanding presentation on the theme. | 63 | NSS SPECIAL CAMP, 2023 DAY 6- PERFORMANCE OF STREET DRAMA AND ART COMPETITION | On the day 6 of the Special Camp, the volunteers performed a Street Play named ‘Makonr Biya’. The Play was performed with the aim to spread awareness regarding Child marriage. The Street Play was followed by an Art Competition among the children of the village. Issue like environmental preservation is more crucial for villagers like Rangolu Paharguri living next to the Kaziranga National Park. Dr. Anupam Kumar Medhi and Mr. Gosaisan Das, Assistant Professors, Dept of Zoology, Kaliabor College attended the occasion as guest speakers. The speakers had a very fruitful discussion session with the villagers on how they can contribute for the preservation of Kaziranga. Uses of digital financial mechanisms, benefits, cautions were thoroughly discussed. The villagers interacted and expressed their experiences in the subject matter. | 59 | NSS SPECIAL CAMP, 2023 DAY 2- 24th May, 2023 SURVEY ON SOCIO-POLITICAL & ECONOMIC ISSUES OF RANG | On the Day 2, the volunteers conducted surveys inside the village. For the Survey, volunteers were divided into three equal groups. All the groups were given different themes for the survey. The themes were- Life on the Edge of Kaziranga: A Study of Rangalu Paharguri Village, The Possibilities and Challenges of Primary Education at Rangolu Pahrguri Village and The Participation of Women at the ground level Politics at Rangolu. The Rangolu Paharguri Village (adopted Village of Kaliabor College) has a longstanding problem of lack of clean drinking water. Waterborne diseases were rampant in the village.
